A free Grok voice transcription tool

Grok's speech-to-text is developer-facing: x.ai sells it as an API (Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0). If you just have audio — a Grok voice conversation you saved, a voice memo, any recording — upload it here and read it as text. Free to start.

Grok's voice stack got serious: x.ai now offers Grok speech-to-text and text-to-speech APIs (Grok Voice Transcribe 2.0 is the current generation), which is how Grok powers voice conversations in its app and how developers can license the same models. But an API is for people writing code — it doesn't help if you simply have an audio file you want to read.

That's the gap this page fills. Maybe you recorded a Grok voice-mode conversation and want it as text. Maybe you have voice memos, meeting audio or interviews that have nothing to do with Grok. Either way: upload the file, get a clean, punctuated transcript in seconds.

It runs on OpenAI's Whisper models — the accuracy benchmark for speech recognition, including accents, background noise and 90+ languages with automatic detection. Three transcriptions a day are free, no account, nothing to install.

What people transcribe here

Saved Grok voice conversations

If you recorded a voice-mode session with Grok, turn it into text you can quote, search and file — the parts worth keeping stop scrolling away.

Voice memos and notes

The classic case: thoughts captured as audio on the go, converted into text you can actually edit, copy and act on.

Interviews and meetings

Long recordings become searchable documents — find the exact sentence instead of scrubbing a waveform at 2x.

Any audio file, any format

m4a, mp3, wav, mp4, ogg, webm, flac — if a recorder app or a screen capture produced it, it transcribes here.

Questions, answered

Does Grok have transcription?

Yes, in two forms: the Grok app transcribes speech inside its own voice conversations, and x.ai sells speech-to-text to developers via the Grok Voice Transcribe APIs. Neither one transcribes an arbitrary audio file you already have — that's what this page does.

Can I transcribe a Grok voice conversation?

If you have it as an audio file — a screen recording or an exported capture — upload it here and get the text. The Grok app itself doesn't export conversations as transcripts today.

Why not use Grok's STT API directly?

You can, if you're a developer: x.ai's Grok speech-to-text is available through their API with pay-per-token pricing. This page exists for everyone who just wants a transcript without writing code, managing API keys or paying a minimum — upload, read, copy.

Is it really free?

Three transcriptions every day on the free plan — no account, no card, no trial timer. Unlimited plans are available if you transcribe more volume.

How accurate is it?

Transcription runs on OpenAI's Whisper models, which set the accuracy benchmark for speech recognition — strong on accents, punctuation, crosstalk and background noise, across 90+ languages with automatic detection.

Do you store my audio?

No. Files are processed in memory to produce the transcript and are never stored — we keep no copy of your recordings.
